What to Expect When You Work with Guiding Star Sleep

Happy New Year! Maybe you, like many families, are looking forward to a fresh, well-rested start to 2023. You are in the right place! There are many aspects of my job that I love, but one thing I love most is that I get to work 1 on 1 with every family that reaches out to me. I love building relationships AND helping families get the sleep they need! Choosing to sleep train is a very personal decision and when you are paying for a service you want to be sure you know what you are getting. In this blog, I will go through each step of the process so you will know exactly what to expect when you work with Guiding Star Sleep!


Step One: Booking the Consultation

The very first step in this process is booking the consultation. Whether we’ve discussed options through an Introductory call or you are book straight from the website, once you have decided which service fits your family’s needs, you will choose a date to schedule our 60-minute 1:1 consultation.


Step Two: The Intake Form and Agreement

Once you have schedule our call, you will receive and email containing a link to the Intake Form and our Consultation Agreement. The Intake Form is one of the most important pieces because this is where we get down to the nitty-gritty details of your child’s sleep. It provides me with information on your child’s sleep history, your daily schedules and routines, medical history, and future sleep goals. During our consultation, I will review this form and the information provided on the intake form is what I used to create a Personalized Sleep Plan for your family.


Step Three: The Consultation

This is a 60-minute video call where we discuss all things sleep! I will go over pediatric sleep science, so you can get a better understanding of HOW your child sleeps and what will help them get the most quality and restorative sleep. We also discuss how to set up your child’s sleep environment, the method we will use, how to implement that method, daily sleep schedules and routines, how to handle short naps, night wakings, early morning wake-ups and so much more!


Step Four: The Sleep Plan

Based on the information you provide on the intake form, I create a detailed sleep plan. Every sleep plan is rooted in evidence-based research and practices and your plan is personalized to fit the needs of your child and family. During our consultation we will review the sleep plan and I will fill in more details based on what we discuss during our call together. You will then receive the finalized sleep plan 24-48 hours after our consult and generally that is when we officially begin your sleep training journey.


Step Five: Daily Support

Each plan provides 2 weeks of 1 on 1 support. During our time together you will have my daily support via our joint sleep tracker, which allows me to track trends, total sleep, help you adjust when necessary, and it is way to communicate daily. Plus, it’s a great visual of your progress as we go! Additionally, with each consultation plan you will receive phone call support. These phone calls are pre-scheduled and the level of phone call support, ranging from a total of 2 and up to 6 calls over the span of our 2 weeks together, depends on which package you choose. Sleep training is a very personal journey and can feel overwhelming at times, especially in the beginning. My job is to be YOUR personal cheerleader – giving you the encouragement and accountability you need to support your child through this process. I know sleep and you know your child. Together we make the perfect pair to get your family the sleep you need and deserve!


Throughout this entire process from Introductory call to the Wrap-Up Call, there is absolutely No Judgment at all! I love hearing your stories and your struggles. This is personal. Our goal is not to look back, but to look forward to positive change in just a few weeks!
